Rishi Dhawan a veteran allrounder had made comeback to the IPL 2022 after almost six years. The last time he played IPL was back in May 2016. This season, in IPL 2022, he was picked by Punjab Kings for a price of INR 55 lakhs. On Monday, 25th of April, he got a chance to play against Chennai Super Kings and he proved his importance by picking up the wicket of inform batsmen Shivam Dube. Also, he defended the last over and took MS Dhoni’s wicket, and help his team to win the match. He did not get the chance to bat but he bowled superbly with a figure of 39 runs and 2 wickets in his 4 overs.
When he was bowling, everyone was confused to see him wearing the faceguard. It was a totally different faceguard that we have seen in cricket. So only one question was going into everyone’s mind that Why he was wearing the facegaurd.
As we have researched and found out that he was taking extra precautions as recently he was hit on his nose on the follow-through in the Ranji Match. He underwent surgery for that.
Before the match, Punjab Kings had posted a video on their social media account where Rishi Dhawan talked about his nose injury and the comeback.
“I am making an IPL comeback after 4 years so it was a little disheartening when I got injured in the Ranji Trophy. I had to go through surgery which ruled me out of the first four matches, but I’m totally fine and available for selection now. I’ve been training hard and hope to have a strong comeback,” he announced in the video.
